HMP Standford Hill is a category D establishment for low-risk prisoners and those approaching the end of their sentences. Regular visitation helps these prisoners to strengthen family ties which in turn contributes to lower re-offending after release. When refurbishing their visitor centre, the client was keen to “break the mould”. Aiming to avoid a traditionally austere environment, they wanted to create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere which would benefit prisoners, visitors and officers alike.
Skye tub chairs provide informal seating, upholstered in vibrant leather-effect vinyl which can be easily cleaned with a damp microfibre cloth thanks to their water-resistant properties.
The chairs have anti-stash seams as standard, improving safety throughout the rest of the prison by reducing the potential for exchange of contraband.
Cumulus dining tables and stackable Touch chairs provide versatile seating options for staff meetings or visitors and prisoners making use of the cafe facilities. The dining tables and coffee tables benefit from a heavyweight solid metal base which provides stability and improves safety in the event of a disruption.
